A man of travels, Philippe Viejo discovered in his youth, the four corners of the world aboard a family boat built with his father. A first trip marked by the chaotic movements of the sea, by the saturated colors of distant countries and the practice of apnea at high level for more than fifteen years in Martinique.

From this journey, he has retained the taste for adventure he shares today with his wife and children: several "road trip" in Eastern Europe, USA, Canada. The crossing of the Americas from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska from July 2016 to August 2017.

Early on, the painting burst into his life. His teachers discovered his talent and encouraged him to enroll at a National School of Plastic Arts. The young man refines his knowledge of different techniques. At the age of 20, he made his first exhibition in the South of France. About twenty figurative paintings are on display. They are all sold and he wins the Prix Ingres. Other regional and national awards will follow.

Today, he offers a mature and accomplished painting, the figurative gradually fades in favor of a personal representation of the world incarnated by matter, movement and color.


Paintings of travel, travels of painting, his paintings tell both the world outside and inside. The one the artist saw. Whoever made him man.

A contemplative work that describes the beauty of the world and the richness of its mysteries. And that pushes the spectator to wonder about his own path. Because, to propose such a vision of the world, one must have really lived. Better, you must have chosen your life well.
